St Luke's National School Montenotte Hosts Successful Interschools Soccer Tournament

7th May 2023

St Luke's National School Montenotte recently hosted the Interschools Soccer Tournament on Saturday 6th May at Ashton School. The tournament included teams from schools across Cork. The successful event was not only a great showcase of footballing skills but also of collegiality amongst the players, highlighting the importance of team spirit and dedication in sports.

The tournament was the culmination of the year's hard work and training by the St Luke's National School Montenotte teams. Every Monday evening, rain or shine, the teams would gather on the pitch to practice, hone their skills, and develop their teamwork with the support of their coaches, Kevin and Brian and the assistance of Peta and Jess. Brian and Kevin’s tireless efforts in guiding and motivating our teams ensured that they were well-prepared for the tournament and able to perform at their best. The hard work and dedication put in by the players, coaches, and parents were evident in their performances on the day of the tournament.

The St Luke's Senior Girls team reaped the fruits of their dedication to training by securing a place in the final. Their agility, quick thinking, and well-coordinated moves on the field were a testament to the hard work put in during their weekly training sessions. They were delighted to be rewarded with a well-deserved 2nd place overall. The Junior and Senior Boys and Junior Girls teams also displayed exceptional skills and coordination, which they developed during their weekly training sessions.

The tournament was an excellent opportunity for the players to develop important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. By taking part in the tournament, the players experienced both victory and defeat, learning the importance of resilience and perseverance. Moreover, participating in the tournament provided an opportunity for the players to showcase their talents and represent their school with pride. Additionally, the tournament was a great opportunity for the players to bond and develop a sense of camaraderie with their teammates and the other teams.

A special thank you to Brian Kenneally who was instrumental in St Luke's National School Montenotte hosting this Interschool tournament. The success of the tournament would not have been possible without him, along with the support of Kevin, Peta, Jess, and volunteers from St. Luke’s National School Montenotte. On the day of the tournament, Principal, Mr. Pepper's presence and support boosted the morale of the players and added to the whole school spirit of the event. We are thankful to all the parents and families of our footballers, who supported them throughout their training, making their participation and success in this tournament possible.

We are immensely proud of each and every one of our school footballers for their hard work and achievements in the tournament. Their dedication to training, discipline, and focus on the field was truly exceptional, and we commend them. The Inter-Schools football tournament was an excellent opportunity to come together as a united team and showcase talents and team spirit among the players. Congratulations, St Luke's National School Montenotte Footballers!
