Students at St Luke's National School Montenotte exhibit an Impressive Performance at ISSA Swimming Gala

24th Apr 2023

St Luke's National School Montenotte students showcased their swimming talent at the ISSA Interschools Swimming Gala, held at Gus Healy Pool in Douglas on Friday, April 21st. We are proud to congratulate our school's swimming team on their remarkable performance at the Cork swimming gala, with our swimmers placing in all swimming categories. Their success is a testament to a true team effort.

Our school swimmers have been training hard all year, and their dedication and hard work truly paid off, ultimately leading to their outstanding performance. The team demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and camaraderie throughout the competition, offering each other words of encouragement, cheering each other on, and congratulating one another after every race. Their congeniality was a pleasure to watch. This spirit of teamwork and support undoubtedly played a significant role in our team's success.

We are thankful to all those who made our students' participation and success in this event possible. Special thanks go to Elaine Quinn for her tireless efforts in organising the logistics and liaising with the ISSA Committee and swim coaches. We would also like to thank the Friday session swimming volunteers and Peta and Jess for looking after lists and payments. Thank you to Maeve and Ann for managing the finances. Our appreciation also goes to the coaches at Mayfield Swimming Pool, who have been instrumental in helping our team achieve their full potential. We are grateful to Gemma, Caterina, and Tara who kindly helped manage the team on the day.  Thank you to all the parents and families of our swimmers, who supported our swimmers throughout their training and the gala. Together, everyone played an integral role in helping our students achieve their full potential and excel in this competition.

We would like to take this opportunity to recognise the importance of swimming as a sport and the benefits it brings. It not only promotes physical fitness but also helps develop social skills, team spirit, and confidence in young people. We acknowledge those students who did not qualify for the gala but who also dedicated their time and effort to training. Their hard work and commitment to the sport have not gone unnoticed. These classmates offered their words of encouragement to the swimming team as they set out after school. Their words of encouragement to those participating in the gala were a true reflection of the congeniality present among students at St Luke's National School.

Our school's participation in the swimming gala was a testament to the incredible teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship of our swimmers and those who support them. We are proud of each and every one of our school swimmers for their achievements, and we congratulate them on their well-deserved recognition. We are excited to continue building on this achievement in future events and supporting each other as a united team. Congratulations, St Luke's National School Montenotte swimmers!
